Honoring Juneteenth

Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, commemorates the day in 1865 when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in the South—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a powerful reminder that freedom and justice were delayed for many, and that the work toward true equity continues.

GPA was founded on a commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. We believe in teaching the full history of our nation and empowering future generations to understand the ongoing impact of systemic injustice and the vital contributions of African Americans to our country.
