Eagles Welcome Assemblywoman Gonzalez Fletcher in GPA Style!

“You all are amazing! You have so much to be proud of! Wait, how many of you were admitted to UCSD? Wow!”

Those were some of the sentiments expressed by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher during her visit to Gompers Preparatory Academy (GPA) on April 7.  The Assemblywoman, after working at the State Capitol until 11pm the night before and taking a 5:30am flight to San Diego, took time out of her busy schedule to visit GPA.  She was welcomed by the GPA Cheerleaders with several acts, including a special “LORENA” cheer and got a “sneak peek” of the upcoming Motown show that will be presented by Musical Production students.  Many parents were in attendance and they expressed their appreciation for the Assembly woman’s service to our community and our state. Ms. Gonzalez Fletcher shook hands and spoke to every student in the Class of 2017, learning which colleges they will attend next year and their future career goals.  The GPA Family was proud to host the Assemblywoman and we look forward to hosting her during future visits.

High Schoolers Receive Their Acclaim at Honor Roll 2017

This week, GPA celebrated the hard work and dedication of its #collegebound students from Grades 9 through 12 – with the 12th Graders receiving their own special ceremony. It is with great pride that we commend our young Eagles on their academic excellence for Semester 1 of the 2016-2017 school year. Congratulations to everyone who made Honor Roll this year!

Class of 2017 Wing Ceremony

Twelve years ago, this community dreamed of creating a school where all children who attended would have a college-prep education, resulting in a place where dreams really do come true.

For the past 7 years, our Seniors have followed their yellow brick road. The result is that today, a record-breaking 98 Seniors out of 113 have earned their wings to fly to college – 87% Seniors have already been accepted to a 4-year university!

They have earned their wings to fly off to over the rainbow and into a land where their dreams will come true – college. We honor our 98 seniors as they enter the auditorium for the last time.

Young Eagles Esteemed at Middle School Honor Roll

Today was a big day of honor and celebration for our bright, young Eagles who were recognized for their academic success! Congratulations to all our middle school students who made it to this year’s Honor Roll! We are super proud of you, your talents, persistence and your #CollegeBound mindset!

Prefect Gets $400,000 in Scholarship and Acceptance to US Coast Guard Academy

It is with great honor that we announce that our first GPA Eagle has been accepted to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Senior, Ruben Castillo, has received a scholarship valued at $400,000. He would be the first graduate from GPA to earn such a distinction.  Ruben met with Admiral Paul Zukunft, the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard as he was awarded his accommodation with 4 other top seniors from the city of San Diego. GPA is incredibly proud of Ruben!
