Superintendent Cindy Marten Makes a Joyous Visit to GPA!

San Diego Unified School District Superintendent, Cindy Marten, visited Gompers Prep today with several members of her leadership team, including: Staci Monreal, Chief of Staff; Bruce Bivins, Area 1 Superintendent; Sofia Freire, Area 4 Superintendent, and Wendy Ranck-Buhr, Director of Teaching and Learning. The Superintendent and her team were treated to a “Marvelous Monday,” including students singing the school song and “flash mob” dances from 10th grade, 11th grade and the entire GPA staff!

The Superintendent and her team observed in classrooms, including Senior Monday, where they watched the weekly senior class photo montage, including music and photos from last week’s Honor Roll and Senior Wing Ceremonies. SD Unified leaders spent time in the Director’s Conference Room learning about the history of GPA and getting to know some of our seniors who have recently been selected to attend UCSD on full scholarship.  The Superintendent asked many questions about how we have implemented the many programs we have in place at GPA.  They shared a lot of positive feedback with Director Riveroll, our students, our staff, and the GPA board members who were present.  We enjoyed sharing our learning and accomplishments with the Superintendent and her team and hope to further this collaboration in the coming months and years.
