On Saturday, May 3, 2014 the GPA Robotics Team visited the Living Coast Discovery Center located on the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge with the opportunity to let their SeaPerch swim with sharks & rays! SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. Students each got a camera mounted to their SeaPerch with the help from the Navy and each team got 5 minutes to control their ROV in the Shark & Ray Experience tank.

Special thanks to the Navy and the Living Coast staff for their help! Also thank you to Mr. Godshalk, Mrs. Laird, Ms. Moore,  Mr. Banks and Mr. Baquial for their support. And special shout out to the GPA Chess Team and Mr. Bentz for coming out to support robotics also!

After they all had a chance to control their SeaPerch in the shark & ray pool, they got to see the rest of the exhibits and wildlife at the discovery center. After the bus ride back to GPA they indulged in some delicious pizza together to top off a fun-filled day.
