CIF Doubles Match

Congratulations to Brayan, Fernando, Chris & Kevin who played in their first Frontier League Tennis Championships on Thursday April 30th at Morley Field. Brayan & Fernando won 3 rounds before losing to SCY. The boys defeated High Tech San Diego & High Tech CV in the tournament. Chris & Kevin came up against a tough team from Health Sciences, it was close and both fought hard but fell short of the win.

Congratulations to Nathen & Peter who played in the Frontier League Championships yesterday at Morley Field. Nathen won 4 rounds and was playing for the final spot in the championships and came up just short of the win. Peter came up against a tough player from HTHSD, it was close and Peter fought hard but fell short of the win.
Today, our boy’s doubles teams will be heading to Morley Field at 1:00 to compete in the doubles championships. Fernando, Brayan, Kevin & Chris will all be playing today. If you happen to see any of these players today wish them luck.
Lastly, thank you Alondra and Itzel (managers) for all your work this season. You two do amazing work.
Boys Varsity Tennis vs SCY
April 28, 2015
The boy’s tennis season finished up yesterday playing their final match against SCY. SCY having one of the strongest teams in the Frontier league did well winning 5-10 at a match that was played at Roosevelt Middle School. Our MVP for the day was Nathen C. who defeated all 3 singles players from SCY. Peter S. who played in the 3rd position defeated the #1 player 6-3. Playing in position #2 was Honorio who had 3 close matches, two of them tie breakers. Great job boys.
In doubles, Brayan F. & Fernando S. started off slow losing their first match, but came on strong in their final two sets, winning both matches 6-3, 6-4. Playing in the #2 spot was Kevin L. & Chris C. This is only their second time playing together and managed to win some games, but they came up just short of winning a set.
The team will be traveling to Morley Field today to compete in the Frontier League Championships. Matches will start at 2:00and finishing up at 5:30. We will have singles today and doubles tomorrow. If you see our players today wish them luck.
Boys Varsity Tennis vs HTHCV
April 21, 2015
The boys played High Tech High Chula Vista for the 2nd time this season. Winning their first meeting in a close tiebreak, HTH came out with a much-improved team. The only win in singles was from our #1 player Nathan, who defeated their #3 player 6-4. Our boys did much better in doubles, winning 4 out of the 9 matches played. Congratulations to Kevin L. & Chris C. who won two matches, and Tim M. and Fernando S. who also won two matches. Final score was 5-10.
Next week on the 28th we play SCY in our final league match. On the 29th and 30th several of our players will be heading into the league championships at the Balboa Tennis Club. Matches will start at 2:00 and run until 5:00. Come out and watch our boys compete. GO EAGLES.
Boys Varsity Tennis vs Health Sciences

The boy’s varsity tennis team got their first win today defeating Health Sciences 10-8. The boys determined to beat Health Sciences came out on fire. Nathan C. defeated the #2 & 3 players 6-0, 601. Peter M. playing in the 3rd position put his first win in singles on the board defeating the #1 player, 6-3. Our MVP for the day was Honorio who defeated #1, #2 and the #3 players. Great job boys!
In doubles Fernando S. and Brayan F. played some of their best doubles this season defeating the #1, #2 and the #3 teams, giving up just 3 games total. Playing in the #2 position was Kevin L. & Tim M. defeating the #3 team and giving them their first win. Playing in position 3 was Chris C. and Eliza winning 2 of there 3 matches. What a day it was for our GPA boys. They are improving everyday they step onto the court.
Today our boys will be playing High Tech Chula Vista at Morley Field, game time 3:30.

Boys Varsity Tennis vs Health Sciences

Our boy’s varsity tennis team traveled to the Balboa Tennis Club to play Health Sciences. Playing singles today was Nathan at #1, Honorio at #2 and for the first time playing singles was Peter at #3. Nathan was the MVP today with 3 wins; Honorio with one win and Peter came up short of a win. Good job boys!
In Doubles, playing at the #1 position was Brayan and Fernando, winning 2 of their 3 matches. In the #2 spot was Kevin & Tim, playing for the first time together they played very well as a team, but came up short in the win category. GPA lost today by a score of 6-10.
Our next match is Monday vs. Health Sciences, and on Tuesday we will play High Tech Chula Vista at Balboa Tennis Club. Come out and support our players, they would love to see you. GO EAGLES!!!!

Boys Varsity Tennis vs HTHSD

Yesterday our boy’s varsity tennis team traveled to the Barnes Tennis Center to compete against the 1st place team, High Tech San Diego. Our boys determine to do better then their last match against HTHSD; they wanted to change things up. Brayan F. who has played singles all season decided to pair up with senior Fernando S. and try doubles. They were awesome! Neck and neck in their first match against the #1 team, only a few points decided the winner, set score was 5-7. In their second match they played the #2 team and won 6-3. Peter S. & Tim M. paired up and did well against the #2 team. In the second match we substituted Tim M. for Kevin L. This was Kevin first doubles match this season, and he was on fire. Serving and hitting some fantastic shots. Great job Peter, Tim and Kevin, your showing improvement every time you step on the court.
The singles line up was about the same with the exception of Chris C. who played singles for the first time. He came out strong against their number #3 player, making his way up to the net and putting away lots of shots. Honorio Z. and Nathan who have been playing singles all season came out on top with wins. Honorio defeated the #2 & #1 players. In his first match against the #2 player, he was down 5-1 and came back to win 7-5. Against the #1 player, Honorio was ready to play some of his best tennis this season, defeating the #1 player 6-3. Nathan playing in the #1 position was down 5-1 in his first match. Nathan rallied back to win the next 3 games, but lost 6-4. In his other two matches Nathan defeated the #2 player and lost to the #3 player. Each of you are showing more confidence and skill every week you step in the court. Great job today. GO EAGLES!
