05.28.2016 @ Mt. Carmel High School

Freshman Jazmine Scott represented Gompers Preparatory Academy in the Track & Field CIF Finals yesterday at Mount Carmel High School as the only freshman countywide competing in the long jump and triple jump. With a jump of 17’8.5 she took 4th place in Division 2 in the long jump and 5th place in the triple jump with a mark of 36’2. Competing in front of a crowd numbering in the thousands Jazmine represented GPA with pride and gave it her all as she medaled in both of her jumping events. She also competed in the 100 meters with a respectable time of 12.99 seconds to finish out her day. She currently holds the record as the #1 freshman long jumper in the state with a personal best of 18’4.5. GPA is extremely proud of Jazmine and our track and field team for a record-breaking year. Thank you to all our GPA family members who came out to support Jazmine!!!


05.12.2016 @ El Cajon Valley HS

Congratulations to Jazmine S. and Jameia J. for qualifying for CIF prelims! Jazmine placed 1st in conference in both the triple jump and long jump. Jameia placed 1st in conference in the shot put throwing a personal record of 30-08. Big shout out to senior Kayla S. for placing 2nd in the 100 hurdles and running a personal record of 19.64. Mario M. ran especially well in his hurdle events placing 2nd in conference in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Congratulations again to all flight crew athletes who competed in finals! Please come out and support Jazmine and Jameia in CIF prelims on SATURDAY, MAY 21 at MT. CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL as they compete against the top athletes in the county…GOOOOOO FLIGHT CREW!


04.30.2016 @ Del Norte HS

Congratulations to Jazmine S., Michael J., Daliah P., and Jameia J. for qualifying in the countywide freshman-sophomore invitational that took place at Del Norte High School last weekend. They were selected to compete as some of the top freshman and sophomore athletes in the county! A hug accomplishment in itself! Daliah placed 18th in the shot put with a distance of 25-06 and Jameia placed 8th in the shot put with a personal best of 29-09. Michael ran a personal best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.65. Jazmine placed 1st (top in the county) in the long and triple jump and received a season best in the 100 meters with a time of 12.82. Congratulations again to Jazmine, Michael, Daliah and Jameia who competed against some of the toughest competition in the entire county!!!

Cluster Meet #1 – El Cajon Valley – March 17th, 2016

Track & Field competed in their first meet of the season on Thursday, March 17 at El Cajon Valley High against over 10 schools in the Frontier Conference! Jazmine Scott placed 1st in the long jump with a personal record of 17 ft and 3rd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.13. Jameia Johnson threw 25-6 in the shot put receiving a personal best and placing 1st in the conference, Nyayiel Lok threw 21-7 and placed 5th, Daliah Philpot threw 55-06 in the discus placing 3rd and Nyabel Thot threw 54-08 placing 4th. Kayla Sealie showed great improvement in the 100-meter hurdles running a time of 20.49 and placing 2nd! Our girl’s 4×100 relay team (Kayla, Elizabeth, Amber and Jazmine) placed 3nd in league and our boy’s 4×100 relay team (Josh, Jonathan, Marshawn and Noah) placed 4th in league! On the boy’s side, Neftali Bojorquez received a personal best in the mile running 5:32 and placing 5th overall. Tony Pacheco took top marks in the 400 and 800 running 57.57 and 2:18 respectively. Captains Noah Hamm and Joshua Rodriguez won their heats in the 100 and 200 with times of 12.75 and 26.29. A special shout out to Llulissa Equihua, Nyabel Thot, Joshua Rodriguez and Angel Hernandez.for exemplifying industriousness and initiative by attending the AP study session after the meet. Way to demonstrate the student in STUDENT athlete!
