10.04.2016 – GPA vs. HTHCV

Congratulations to our girl’s varsity tennis team who played HTHCV yesterday.  HTHCV is the top team in the league this season and playing in Division #2.  We mixed things up a bit yesterday giving all of our players an opportunity to play against some of the top players in our league.  Leading our GPA eagles was our MVP for the day, Eliza.  Eliza defeated the top 2 singles players 6-1 & 6-0.  Our other singles players were Jamiea and Kayla who defeated their #2 & 3 players to give GPA 4 points going into doubles.

In doubles, our #1 team was Alondra & Lizzeth who defeated the #2 team from HTHCV 6-2.  Our other teams Lizbeth & Alejandra improve immensely from the first time we played this school taking the #2 team to a tiebreaker.  Kierra & Brianna playing in the #3 spot won games but came up short.  All of our new players have been playing tennis less then 2 months and to be able to put games on the board is impressive.  Great job LADY EAGLES…

09.22.2016- GPA vs. Health Sciences

Congratulations to our girls varsity tennis team who defeated Health Sciences in a nail biter, winning 10-8.   Eliza playing in the #1 position got our eagles out to an early lead defeating the #1, #2 and #3 players, only giving up one game in all 3 matches.  Playing in positions #2 & #3 were Kayla and Jameia who won 2 out of their 3 matches increasing our lead to 7 points.  Well-done lady eagles. Playing in position #3 in doubles were Lizbeth & Alejandra, who brought home two wins; this is their first victory of the season.  Brianna & Marciella playing together for the first time did extremely well taking one team to a tiebreaker.  Keirra & Shanya played a tough match against their #1 team; they came up a little short this time.  Going into the final two matches of the day it was tied at 8-8.  Alondra and Lizzeth playing in the #1 position in doubles came out on fire and determine to bring home a win for GPA.  They won their match 6-2 and gave GPA the victory.  Amazing teamwork ladies. We are so proud of all of you for your dedication and hard work.

GO EAGLES!!!!

Our girls varsity tennis team traveled to Hilltop High School to play High Tech Chula Vista.  We had a full team, and several players played their first match of the season.  Going up against the toughest team in the league, all of our new players took a chance and came out on fire.  Playing in the the #1 doubles position was Alondra & Lizzeth, they start slow but put a “W” on the board defeating the #3 team 6-4.  Lizbeth, Alejandra, Shanya and Brianna playing in their first match of the season did extremely well.  Jameia & Kayla played in the #2 & #3 spots in singles and won several games against some tough opponents, great job ladies.  Eliza our #1 player defeated all three top players from High Tech.  Last year Eliza lost to the top two players from HTHCV,  but her dedication to tennis over the summer proved why she is our #1 player.  Great job team!  We are so proud of all of you.

09.06.2016 GPA vs. HTHSD

Congratulations to our girl’s varsity tennis team who played High Tech San Diego yesterday in their first match of the season.  Returners, Eliza and Kayla led the team with victories in singles.  First year player Jameia J. who stunned the crowd with 6-1 victory over HTHSD #3 player.  Alondra & Lizzeth playing in their first match as the #1 doubles team did well but came up short in the win category.  Our MVP for the match was Eliza with solid victories over the #2 & #3 player.

This is a re-building year for our girl’s tennis team; with only 4 returners and 11 new players our team is growing.  We are excited to see so many new faces and student-athletes playing tennis for the first time.
