College Class Rationale: College class serves as an opportunity to connect and
communicate with the student body in a formal setting that simulates a
large college lecture hall. With a high regard to respect and
discipline, students are educated on school wide events, areas of
growth, areas of achievement and character education as it relates to
school culture. College class also serves as a platform for students
to learn public speaking skills that will serve in other formal
settings. College class is the foundation of school culture that
supports the overall instructional program at GPA.
Standards:
- Students are escorted to college class by their teachers in a straight single file line.
- Students enter the auditorium without talking.
- Students sit every other seat unless directed otherwise.
- Students sit quietly without talking until the college class begins.
- Students may begin to work on the prelude if one is available.
- Students must sit quietly without talking until all students are present.
- Disciplined behavior is the order.
- Students are expected to bring their planner, and writing tools for note taking.
- Students should be prepared to be "cold called"
- Staff
is expected to attend college class, take notes, and immediately
reinforce the message of the day within their own classroom through
class discussion, charts, or graphic organizers.
